The President this morning departed for Indonesia on an official visit, to attend the Special ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting in the Aftermath of the Earthquake and Tsunami, which is scheduled to be held on 6 January 2005 in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. He is attending the Meeting on the invitation of the President of Indonesia, Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and is scheduled to deliver an address.

The President was seen-off at Male’ International Airport by the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Ministers, State Ministers, State Dignitaries, senior officials at the President’s Office, the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Senior Officers at the National Security Service and the Maldives Police Service.

The President is being accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Fathulla Jameel, the Minister of Finance and Treasury, Mr. Mohamed Jaleel, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Hussain, the Chief Government Spokesman, Dr. Ahmed Shaheed, the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Abdulla Hameed, the Director General at the Presidential Palace, Mr. Ismail Faiz, the Advisor at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Dr. Mohamed Firdhous and Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Mohamed Didi of the NSS, during the visit.
