" My fiance Rody Boyce and I had a wonderful holiday in October 2004 at Baros Resort. Our thoughts go out to those who have had their lives devastated by the tsunami. We hope all staff, guests and the infrastructure of this beautiful island survived, and that Bridgit and Olli the diving instructors who would have been particularly at risk are alive and well. The Maldives and its people have a special place in our hearts and we would hope to return in the future."

"I spent nine of the best months of my life on Hitaddu - 1974-75. The people who worked on Gan often had to walk through the area where we lived. We were often invited to the village (Hitaddu) to eat and play with the Islanders - we used their Dhonis to race at Christmas for the Padre's charity bash, and at other times for the COs Cup. Well it wasn't really a cup, it was a Bugalo. The children were the most beautiful little people ever and always smile as we sailed our boats close to the village jetty - We were also allowed to visit Bushy and Heratera, once camping out on both islands.

I doubt if I will ever return to one of the few places in the world that I felt at ease and happy. I sincerely hope that all the peoples of Addu are well, especially the friends I made whilst there. I include all the people of The Maldives in that wish.

A bit disjointed - but the words are well meant. The Blessings of Allah be upon you all."

Dai Rees Ypsonas, Cyprus
